Google Cloud growth is outpacing the company's ad business

Added: 27.04.2017 23:07 | 2 views | 0 comments

Google is still an advertising company, but the tech titan’s cloud business is growing faster than its advertising revenue. That’s one of the key take-aways from the company’s first quarter earnings report .
Google Cloud Platform is one of the fastest-growing lines of revenue across Alphabet, the parent company that includes Google and other businesses like self-driving car maker Waymo, company CFO Ruth Porat said on a conference call with analysts. That growth is driven in part by a change in the way companies are working with Google Cloud.
“Over the last several months, we have noticed a change in the types of conversations that Diane [Greene] and her team are having with customers,” Google CEO Sundar Pichai said. “Increasingly, we are being asked to partner for mission-critical projects and full migrations, moving data from on-prem data centers to the cloud. We are seeing a meaningful shift, and this momentum is resulting in a fast-growing business.”

Ruby Rose's House Invaded by Venomous Spiders

Added: 27.04.2017 20:51 | 1 views | 0 comments

Ruby Rose thinks her house is being invaded by black widow spiders.
The 'Orange is the New Black' star - who was born and raised in Australia - was stunned to see a highly venomous creepy crawly with a red back, most commonly talked about in her native country, on her doorstep at her home in Los Angeles.
Taking to her Twitter account, the 31-year-old actress uploaded a photograph of the spider and asked her fans whether the black insect was the deadly black widow.
She said: "I always thought cali spiders were kinda cute and like Hollywood versions of Aussie spiders then I saw this and now I'm shook. Black widow?"
Although she seemed pretty spooked by the trespasser, Ruby - who has two dogs called Chance and Ru - tried to make light of the situation by joking that she doesn't need anymore animals - especially spiders - to sponge off her and eat her food.
She teased: "I already have dogs that scam food, accommodation and don't even tidy up or help with dishes I don't need a bunch of free-loading spiders
"Googles *can you train a black widow spider to do dishes... There are 3 outside my house.. I'm canceling my week. (sic)"
Black widows are found in climates with mild temperatures, such as the United States, southern Europe and Asia, Australia, Africa, and much of South America.
They primarily exist in the South and West of the US and are usually found in dark, dry shelters such as barns, garages, basements and outdoor toilets.
Although they are deemed the most venomous spider in North America - their venom is thought to be 15 times stronger than a rattlesnake's - they only bite humans when disturbed and, although it's rare that the bite will lead to death, the venom can cause muscle aches, nausea, and paralysis of the diaphragm.

Google’s Pixel 2 might be released sooner than we thought

Added: 27.04.2017 19:00 | 1 views | 0 comments

Google already confirmed that Pixel 2 smartphones are in the making, but we shouldn’t expect them sooner than fall 2017. Since then, a series of leaks brought us the codenames of the upcoming Pixel 2 (Walleye) and Pixel 2 XL (Muskie), also revealing that there’s a third Google device in the making codenamed Taimen, which may or may not be part of the Pixel 2 family. Google tried to remove these codenames from its AOSP forum but failed to keep them hidden. And now, a new finding seems to suggest that the Pixel 2 may see an earlier launch than expected.

Before you get too excited, you should know Google doesn’t have anything to announce. And just because Googlers might be talking about walleye, muskie, taimen, and any other variety of fish on forums, it doesn’t mean a phone launch is imminent.
However, noticed that at least one Google engineer has access to a physical Pixel 2. As you can see in the image below, someone was able to finally test something “on a walleye device.”

Now, it shouldn’t be surprising to hear that Pixel 2 prototypes are already available at Google. After all, we expect Google to be working on both the new Pixel phones and Android O as we speak. One can’t go without the other.
Is this enough evidence to get excited about an early Pixel 2 launch? We have no way of knowing what Google’s plans are. Since it’s competing against Apple and Samsung, Google might want to launch the Pixel 2 series just a little earlier than early October, which is when the Pixel and Pixel XL were released in 2016. The Galaxy S8 is selling like hot cakes right now, the Galaxy Note 8 should arrive in the second half of the year, and the iPhone 8 will probably be the phone to buy this Christmas.
Google has to compete with all of that.
On the other hand, Google is yet to meet demand for the Pixel, so it had better make sure the Pixel 2 doesn’t have the same fate before determining the new phone's launch date. People are still angry to this day about how difficult it is to purchase some Pixel variants.
